The office
- BookingsDeliveries, collections and exchanges on one screen: the customer, the site, the time you agreed, where the skip goes and a note for the driver.
- Office notepadThe pad by the phone. Write down an enquiry and the number and postcode are picked out of it; “Book it” turns the note into a booking.
- Prices by size and distanceA price per skip size, a surcharge by road distance, your extra charges and each council’s permit fee, and a trade account’s own discount.
- Repeat jobsSet the pattern once and next month’s jobs appear on the board as ordinary bookings you can still move or cancel.

Paperwork and money
- WeighbridgeOne screen per load: the lorry, the skip, the weight, and as many EWC codes as the skip really held. Every day still to weigh is in one list.
- Defra waste receiptsBuilt from what you weighed and held back while anything is missing. File them as Defra’s spreadsheet, or straight to Defra once you have your own Defra API code.
- Waste transfer notesDrafted from the weighbridge record when the job finishes; print one or a run, or email it to the customer.
- InvoicesEverything finished and not yet invoiced, one invoice per customer or their whole month on one, with your logo and your own footer.
- What you are owedPaid, part paid and overdue, counted across the whole book. A card refund comes back as a credit note.
- XeroInvoices go across as drafts for you to approve; payments taken in Xero come back within the hour. A plain CSV too.

Finished jobs wait on one screen with their price, and the photos and report from site when the driver sent them. Invoice per job or a customer’s whole month, sent to Xero as drafts.

Waste tracking is part of the yard flow.
The weight and EWC codes are recorded on the bridge. The office sees what is ready for Defra, what is held and why, and what was rejected.
Two different documents come off the same load, and SkipDeck issues both: the Defra receipt and the transfer note.
You can report with it today. SkipDeck builds Defra’s receipt-of-waste spreadsheet and loads Defra’s reply back onto each job. Sending receipts straight to Defra’s system is built too: Defra granted SkipDeck production access on 10 September 2026, and it is switched on for your firm once you have your own Defra API code. SkipDeck is named on Defra’s own list of software providers, updated 14 September 2026. Nothing is ever sent to Defra until somebody presses the button.

- Upload the sheet. Any layout — it doesn’t have to be ours.
- Confirm the columns. Every guess shows its evidence; change any that are wrong.
- Review and create. Addresses are checked on a map before they become bookings.

Three bands, set by how many lorries you run. Nothing is held back on the cheapest one — you pay for the size of your fleet, not a cut-down version.

I’m Michael Doherty. I ran a skip hire company in Coventry for nine years before I wrote any of this.
I never found software that suited the way the work goes, so I built it.
